DAY 01

Arrive at Guatemala City, we will meet you at the airport and we will drive you to Antigua Guatemala, a city founded in the early 16th century. Built 1,500 meters above sea-level, in an earthquake-prone region, it was largely destroyed by an earthquake in 1773, but its principal monuments are still preserved as ruins; evening at leisure, overnight at Antigua.

DAY 02

At 8:00 AM, we will explore the timeless colonial city of Antigua Guatemala, nestled in a valley surrounded by the peaks of three towering volcanoes. Over time it became the most important city in Central America, adorned with monasteries, churches and other monuments built in the Spanish Colonial architectural style. While in Antigua you will explore the restored colonial buildings as well as those left as ruins throughout the city. Among the intricate colonial buildings and interesting museums you will visit on our tour, you will explore the ornate La Merced church, the ruins of the Capuchinas convent and the San Francisco Cathedral; evening at leisure, overnight at Antigua.

DAY 03

In the morning, you will be transfered to Panajachel, but before we will visit Quetzaltenango, the second largest city in Guatemala, here we will explore the architecture of the city, incluiding the Casa de la Cultura, the Municipal Theatre, Espiritu Santo Church, among other monuments. In the afternoon, we will continue to Panajachel for overnight.

DAY 04

Today, we will have a boat tour on Lake Atitlan and visit the communities along the shore like Santiago de Atitlan, were we will find a Quiche Indian population that descend from the Mayas and walk around this colonial villages, we will also visit Santa Cruz La Laguna and San Antonio (By private small boat); in the afternoon, you will be transferred to Chichicastenango for overnight.

DAY 05

We will visit the Chichicastenango Indian market, reputedly the largest outdoor market in Central America, which attracts buyers and sellers from near and far every Thursday and Sunday. Many great souvenirs can be found here, from colorful Mayan fabrics and ceremonial masks to genuine leather goods, jewelry and accessories; in the afternoon, you will be transferred to Guatemala City for overnight.

DAY 06

At 5:00 AM, transfer to the airport to catch the morning flight to Flores departing at 6:30 AM and arriving at 7:40 AM, the tour continues with a one-hour drive to the Maya Ruins of Tikal. During its heyday 700 AD, Tikal was the capital of a vast Mayan empire. Today, the site is one of Guatemala's premier tourist attractions. Its unspoiled jungle setting makes it special for discerning travelers, particularly Archaeologists, Naturalists and bird watchers. Mid-afternoon we will head back to Flores for overnight.

DAY 07

At 6:30 AM, you will be transferred to Santa Elena Airport at Flores, to catch your domestic flight back to Guatemala City departing at 7:55 AM and arriving at 9:00 AM, transfer to your hotel, in the afternoon we will enjoy a tour of Guatemala City, starting at the Metropolitan Cathedral, the city's main church. It has stood the test of time, having been completed in 1867, and has survived numerous earthquakes, then we will drive to the Guatemala Relief Map, an iconic scale map of the whole country, we will visit the National Palace of Guatemala, the symbol of the city and the President's headquarters. You will also see the Civic Center, the Central Plaza and the Ixchel Museum, evening free, overnight at Guatemala City.

DAY 08

At the appropriate time, we will drive you to the airport to catch your international departure flight.
